Rose City Comic Con 2017

Eric from www.longboxreview.com returns to talk to George about Rose City Comic Con in Portland, OR. Get the full story of his adventures on a future episode of Longbox Review. For now, check his archives for some discussions with Peter Rios of www.thedailyrios.com, including their joint venture, The Legion Project (a podcast about the "Baxter run" of The Legion of Superheroes from the mid-80's).

George also talks about a new film project from frequent guest Bryan Loy being crowd funded through Indiegogo. Please check out Mount Skylight at www.indiegogo.com/projects/mount-skylight-a-short-film--2#/ and consider becoming a backer. Listen to this episode to find out why the two characters in the middle of panel one on page 7 are so important to George and Tony (and why they are wearing plain white t-shirts).

Tattletales

Last week, Rob Shade returned to the guest co-host chair to talk about his wedding, honeymoon, and Eclipse 2017 (check our archives on iTunes and www.georgeandtony.com). This week, his wife Amy joins George to correct everything he said! OK, that might be an exaggeration but you still get to hear her side of the stories. Plus, like she did on episode 175, Amy talks astronomy!

First Hurricane Harvey, now Hurricane Irma. Let's not forget our friends in Texas and Florida. Please consider donating to www.redcross.org and/or www.aforeverhome.org to help the victims of these storms. Disasters like these can happen anywhere.

Buttery and Marinating

He proposed to his wife, Amy, on episode 152 of this very program (check our archives on iTunes and www.georgeandtony.com) and he came back six times (episodes 158,161,167,169,172,176) afterward to, among other things, update us on different stages of planning the wedding. Now, Rob Shade returns to the guest co-host chair to talk to George about the wedding and the honeymoon, plus Disneyland and eclipse 2017. Join us for the fun and share our show with your friends.

Don't forget, not only do the people who were in the path of Hurricane Harvey still need assistance but so do their pets and other displaced animals. You can help by donating to www.redcross.org and www.aforeverhome.org. Please check out these worthwhile organizations and consider contributing to help those in need. Disasters like this can happen anywhere.

A Curmudgeon, An Optimist, and 8 Comic Books Walk Into a Bar

George plays The Curmudgeon and guest co-host Eric from Longbox Review (check out his latest episode, #123, with his guest Peter Rios at www.longboxreview.com) plays The Optimist as our heroes talk about Project Superpowers: Hero Killers and Swordquest from Dynamite Entertainment, The Unstoppable Wasp from Marvel Comics, Clue from IDW, Sisters of Sorrow from Boom! Studios, and three recent issues of Batman from DC.

Have we piqued your curiosity? If you are lucky enough to have a comic book store near you, head over there right now and pick up some (if not all) of these books. Not so lucky? Then use the Amazon link at www.georgeandtony.com when these stories are inevitably collected in trade paperbacks.

The Heart of NOVACON

George is joined by guest co-host Tom McKeon, otherwise known as the Heart of NOVACON. NOVACON (www.thenovacon.com) was the comic, gaming, cosplaying, pop culture event held at the Ritz-Carlton in Tysons Corner, VA July 28-30 this year. Last week you heard George speak with Ming Chen from AMC's Comic Book Men at the convention (check out episode 183 in our archives at www.georgeandtony.com) and you heard George and his nephew Frank discuss their volunteering experiences. This week, Tom tells George about his own adventures volunteering in almost all aspects of the show.

We had originally planned a round table discussion about NOVACON but scheduling conflicts prevented that. Not only did Tom provide more than enough behind-and-in-front-of-the-scenes stories, George also had a chance to record a conversation with Kevin Bednarz, one of the key players behind NOVACON. This episode provides a nice epilogue to NOVACON 2017.

George was also there to volunteer with his nephew Frank who returns to the show to talk about his experience at NOVACON.

Blue, Ace, and Tu-Tone

After guest co-hosting on episode 179 just a few weeks ago (check our archives at www.georgeandtony.com), Eric from Longbox Review (www.longboxreview.com) returns and George makes good on his promise to not discuss comics with a man who has a podcast solely about comics! So, what do our heroes talk about this week? How about vacations, summertime fun, the ins and outs of Idaho, sonograms, training for 5k races, beer, and feeling nostalgic? It's our Christmas in July gift to you. You didn't think we'd let the Hallmark Channel have all the fun now did you?

Plus, a special announcement about NOVACON from none other than Ming Chen from AMC's hit show Comic Book Men (coming back for a seventh season in October). NOVACON is coming to the Ritz Carlton in Tysons Corner, VA THIS WEEKEND (July 28-30, 2017)!!! Get all the details and your tickets at www.thenovacon.com. You might even see George at the Registration Booth. You will definitely see Ming Chen there Saturday and Sunday...and you can hear him on the show next week!

Fun Train Wrecks Featuring Bryan Loy

Last heard on episode 162 (check our archives on iTunes and www.georgeandtony.com), film critic Bryan Loy returns to fill in for Tony and to talk about the movies from the first half of 2017 that we loved and loved to hate. George and Bryan also discuss Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, drive-ins, and what to look forward to as we enter the second half of the year.

Logan, Kong: Skull Island, Baby Driver...these are just a few of the movies you will hear about on this show. And don't forget to check out Bryan's frequent appearances on The Epic Film Guys Podcast on iTunes and www.epicfilmguys.com.

NOVACON is coming to the Ritz Carlton in Tysons Corner, VA July 28-30, 2017. If you are in the northern Virginia area, please come on out and support local creators, meet some celebrities, and cosplay your weekend away! Go to www.thenovacon.com for all the details.
